coaching
From the start of your career at Marakon, you will be assigned a coach who oversees your professional development. This coaching relationship is at the core of our approach to people development. Coaches provide support, guidance and structure throughout a consultant's tenure, as well as confidential career advice. This is achieved through regular monthly meetings to assess progress and put new personal goals in place.
Coaches also have the responsibility to represent their coachees at development forums, where the progress and development of each consultant and associate consultant is discussed. Prior to these sessions, the coach and coachee work together to form a point of view based on feedback from the case team manager, case team peers, clients and other people that the coachee has worked with. Providing each consultant with one person accountable for his or her development also ensures that key decisions around advancement and compensation are based on a comprehensive view of the individual’s performance over time, rather than on any one assignment.
In addition, each new hire is assigned a peer-group buddy to answer questions, pass on experiences and provide an outlet for discussing work or non-work related issues.
For more senior members of the firm, their ability to provide coaching support plays a significant role in their own development and has a material impact on their progression. This further nurtures an environment in which development, rather than evaluation, is the norm.
